Antigen Preparation
"A synthetic peptide LG TSL EVE PFA SL corresponding to human SirT3. It is identical among human, mice and rat."
Background
"SIRTs belongs to sirtuin family proteins. The human homologs, which include SIRT1-7, are divided into four main branches: SIRT1-3 are class I, SIRT4 is class II, SIRT5 is class III and SIRT6-7 are class IV. SIRT1 is a member of the sirtuin family of proteins, homologs to the yeast Sir2 protein. Members of the sirtuin family are characterized by a sirtuin core domain and grouped into four classes. SIRT1 is highly expressed in heart, brain and skeletal muscle, with low expression in lung and placenta. Sirtuin 3 (Sirt3) is mainly a nuclear protein that transfers to the mitochondria during cellular stress. In humans, Sirt3 deacetylates and activates the mitochondrial enzyme acetyl-CoA synthetase 1 (AceCS2). Sirt3 is implicated in regulating mitochondrial function and thermogenesis in brown adipocytes. Its levels have been shown to correlate with extended life span. Increased levels of Sirt3 were associated with node positive breast cancer."
