Antigen Preparation
Membrane preparation of a spleen from a patient with hairy cell leukemia.
Background
"CD31 is a cell surface glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells and in platelets. It is known to be involved in cell signaling
and cell adhesion. The proteinmay be a component involved in the interaction of endothelial cells with coagulation factors,
platelets, and the subendothelial matrix. It is found on the surface of platelets, monocytes, neutrophils, and some types of T-
cells, and makes up a large portion of endothelial cell intercellular junctions. The encoded protein is a member of the
immunoglobulin superfamily and is likely involved in leukocyte migration, angiogenesis, and integrin activation.
